The Lachtal Ski Area is 42 kilometers away, but with the purchase of a Kreischberg ski pass, the Lachtal slopes are also available, so if you like diversity, you should visit it once in a while. There are 7 km of blue, 16 km of red and 2 km of black slopes for skiers and snowboarders alike.
A great favorite among skiers is the Turracher Höhe Ski Resort, which is 26 km from the apartment. It is definitely worth a visit, and choosing the Mur-Mürz combined pass, both Turracher Höhe and the Kreischberg Ski Area can be visited with the same pass! The countryside is beautiful, the slopes are diverse and in winter the frozen lake becomes a natural ice rink. From one side of the lake to the other, a tractor pulls skiers, which is a fantastic experience especially for children. And with its 2,205m peak, the snow-covered area is often open until the end of April! With 42 km of slope system, Turracher Höhe offers 14 km of blue, 24.5 km of red and 3.5 km of black slopes.
The Ski Grebenzen ski resort of St. Lambrecht is not to be missed, as it is 31 km from Edelmur. The ski area is recommended mainly for beginners and intermediate students. The length of the ski slopes is 12.2 km, of which 2.9 km are blue, 9 km are red and 300 m are black.
Situated 28 km from our apartment house, Katschberg Ski Resort offers 16 ski lifts and 70 km of slopes, both for beginners or advanced level skiers. And even night skiing is possible!
In addition to skiing and snowboarding, even cross-country skiing enthusiasts will find tracks in Stadl an der Mur where they can enjoy their passion. Almost all major ski resorts have cross-country ski trails. The Turracher Höhe Ski Resort even offers night skiing!
Children and adults alike can enjoy the fun of sledging due to the natural conditions of the countryside. There is a great sledge track in Stadl an der Mur and there are also longer and shorter slopes in the area, and in some places there is even possibility to go for a night slip. In addition to the Kreischberg sledge track, it is worth mentioning the Tonnerhütte slope at Zirbitzkogel-Grebenzen Nature Park, which can be reached on foot or with a skilift, where sliding is a childen’s play after all.
In winter, frozen lakes turn into natural skating rinks in the countryside, so skating enthusiasts can enjoy their passion in many places. In Stadl an der Mur village, a small artificial lake can be found, which is turned into a skating rink in winter time, providing a great opportunity for both adults and children.
